When neighbors complained about Vidyut Gopal and Parul Agrawal’s young son with autism pulling children’s hair, biting a woman and other menacing behavior, the couple said they did what they could to make it stop. They hired caregivers, gave the boy special medication, and put him in therapeutic classes. Despite their efforts, the neighbors on both sides filed what is believed by both the legal and autism communities to be the first of its kind, a lawsuit seeking to have the couple’s autistic son, who’s now 11 years old, declared a public nuisance.
